The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is the United States primary electrical and fire safety standards writing body. With a history that goes back to the earliest implementation of electricity within buildings the NFPA has been consistently writing safety standards for these kinds of products, equipment and industries.
Do I have to comply to the national electric code?
What does the fire code say about my installation?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) writes the national electric code which is NFPA 70. For equipment manufacturers, NFPA 79 is the primary standard that you will need to look at as well. NFPA provides deep explanation on their standards and they are reasonable and easy to follow standards. Both NFPA 70 the national electric code, and the NFPA 79 are prescriptive type standards and therefore easy to follow.
You need your equipment to conform quickly, and get past both fire and electrical inspections. These two standards are key to that process within the United States of America.
