Often, I see in the field and in emails, people designing their products in a vacuum, not having the standards on hand, not having a scope of final evaluations for certifications, and not contacting the lab early.
Why do you think this is? It might be great to hear an example of why they don’t do this…Are they worried that it has to be perfect before they show anyone? Do they have concern that they would fail if the lab knew about the design early on? Too much of a rush? No resources? Please let us know what you think.
The reality is… If you contact the lab early, we can do a scope, provide standards links, a complete a design evaluation, and a conformity assessment and we can even test each individual module and evaluate your bill of materials early on. All to ensure success in that you are incorporating the requirements of the standard into your product. That way at the end of the process, you will have confidence that when we go and test and evaluate your final piece of equipment, it will pass easily.
The real piece of wisdom and advice is … Engage us early and do these evaluations and tests so that you know where you stand. Holding off doesn’t save you money and it sure costs a lot of time. Doing it early really makes a big difference.
